Gifts of the Spirit and Love, They go Together

We go together like a wink and a smile

This morning I was reading I Corinthians 12-13 and remembering how important it is to use the gifts God has given each one of  us with love.  There are times we can get caught up in legalism and not even realize it. I think maybe it is because we so want God's will to happen that we try to force things and not walk in the love of God.

  

What follows is a listing of the gifts God has given to the Body of Christ and a listing of the fruit of love.

For to one is given by the Spirit 

The word of wisdom

To another the word of knowledge

To another faith 

To another the gifts of healing

To another the working of miracles

To another prophecy

To another discerning of spirits

To another divers kinds of tongues

To another the interpretation of tongues

Fruit of endeavoring to do above gifts without charity (love)

I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal

I am nothing 

and

it profiteth me nothing

What is Charity (love)?

Endures long

Is kind

Envy's not

Boasts not of itself

Is not puffed up

Does not behave itself unseemly

Seeks not her own

Is not easily provoked

Thinks no evil

Rejoices not in iniquity

Rejoices in the truth

Bears all things

Believes all things

Hopes all things 

Endures all things

The gifts of the Spirit and love; they go together like

A WINK AND A SMILE : )
