He Has Made the Summer and Winter

  I thought I would post this for all of us that are missing the snow here in the Northeast and other places.  It seems a little backwards this year.  This weekend they had a nice snowstorm down south; we are still enjoying spring like weather. I love how my husband embellished this image that I took.  You can really feel the cold. 

I have learned in my days of walking with the Lord, there is always something that I can give our God praise and thanks for.  In times of turmoil in our country, I can still see God's goodness and hand of blessing.  I think sometimes we whine too much.  Some folks pray for snow because they love it.  Maybe they want to go skiing.  Others can't stand it.  Maybe one person is praying for snow and one person is praying for the snow to go away.  Are we asking amiss?  Perhaps we should stop trying to direct God and  enjoy more of what is around us.  There is no perfection in this world, but there is a lot of evidence of God's mighty hand at work.  

In chapter 74 of Psalms, the psalmist recognizes he and his brethren are in a dire state.  Yet, he does not let the situation dominate his soul.  He instead turns and remembers and reminds God (which He seems to really like), of His goodness and times of deliverance for His people.

Praise Him, He has made the summer and the winter, (even the mild ones).  

TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON

This has been a very unique winter here in the great Northeast.  We have been getting only dusting's of snow here and there.  "It is going to snow today," would usually mean one to three feet of snow. A warm spell this time of year would usually be in the upper 20's, it has been in the 40's on a regular basis.

I often wonder if I will see my furry hibernating friends coming out from their sleepy winter dens, but they seem to be staying put.  Do they know something I don't know?  Will winter hit us with a fury just when we are expecting it will be time to plan our gardens?  Though I have never had a winter with such little snow, one thing I have learned is to watch the animals.  God must have put some good weather sensors in them for they always seem to know when a storm is coming or when winter will be starting or stopping.  The chipmunks are still hiding and the robins are no where to be seen.

To everything there is a season; and a time to every purpose under the heaven....

NIAGARA FALLS IN THE WINTER a post from my husband

While my daughter and I were on a long distance drive we found that we would be passing by Niagara Falls at around lunch time. We decided to stop and have lunch at the falls. It was winter and COLD but that didn't stop us, after all it was Niagara Falls!

As always, we were equipped with our trusty cameras, ready to take a picture at any given moment.

Niagara Falls in the winter is equally ominous in power as in the summer, though it seemed a little more intimidating.  Seeing the icy blue, green water and feeling the cold all around, reminded me of the need to respect nature.

Interestingly, there were footprints in the snow right on the edge of the falls.  I thought, "Either someone was

very brave and had a need to be there or not very bright". 

I tended toward the latter.
Good thing there were no slip marks!
